Kuchenly

Kuchenly vs Mealime: which meal planner fits how you cook?

Mealime and Kuchenly solve the same 6pm problem in opposite ways. Mealime hands you a week from its own polished recipe catalogue; Kuchenly builds the week from your recipes, from a quick spoken or typed brief. Here is where each one genuinely wins.

Full disclosure: Kuchenly is our app, so read this as an honest but interested comparison. Every claim about other apps below comes from their own websites, documentation, or app store listings, checked on 31 July 2026 - and where we could not verify something, we left it out. Prices are in USD from US store listings unless noted; check each app for current local pricing.

Where Mealime genuinely shines

Credit where due: Mealime has been at this for years, holds a 4.8-star rating across 54,000+ US App Store reviews, and its curated approach means every recipe is tested, photographed, and portion-balanced. If you want to outsource the “what” entirely and cook whatever appears, that consistency is the product. The US grocery-delivery hand-off is real convenience Kuchenly does not offer.

Where the approaches split

Mealime plans from its catalogue: your family’s actual favourites only enter via URL import, and there is no way in from a cookbook photo, a TikTok save, or your head. Kuchenly starts from the opposite end: capture recipes from anywhere - including by just saying them aloud - and the AI plans your real week (“two quick dinners, leftovers Wednesday, roast Sunday”) from food you already love. The shopping list then handles the tedium: aisles, duplicate-merging, and skipping pantry staples you own, automatically rather than as a manual check-off.

Households of 7+ should note Mealime’s own documentation caps servings at six; Kuchenly scales any recipe to any number.

Bottom line

Different kitchens, different winners. Catalogue cooks with US delivery needs: Mealime earns its rating. Cooks with their own recipe life - and anyone who wants planning to feel like a 30-second chat instead of a browsing session - that is exactly what Kuchenly was built for. See it against other apps in our Paprika and Samsung Food guides, or start with the 15-minute weekly planning method.
